I have a Customer Service question order, shipping, returns, etc. I would like to ask other customers a question about this Product.
If these are the round body coils, I don't understand how they will work in the square body coil bracket that Keith mentioned! Answer This Question. Dielectric Grease, 2 oz.Many of you have been asking how I did my GM Ls2 coil pack swap, so here is my write up on how to do it step by step. Before we get started I thought I would give a little explanation on why this is beneficial to us.
In the quest to achieve higher and higher horsepower levels, there comes a time where we need to upgrade the ignition system. As we increase boost and hp levels, we always need to increase fuel injectors, intercoolers, piping, exhaust Etc. Now before anyone gets all upset with me here, yes Nissan did a great job with the ignition system on the z But as we all know, this was way back in the 's. As with everything, times have changed and technology has made great improvements!
As we start increasing the boost levels to north of 20 Psi, we start to experience what is known as "spark blowout". This occurs when the cylinder pressures and fuel mixtures become too great for the spark plugs to jump the spark across the gap. While this helps to prevent the dreaded blow out, it often comes with a price of poor idle.
Anytime we close the gap way down, it can lead to a rougher idle. So I know some of you will be thinking, this is why HKS makes the twin power ignition amplifier right? Yes this was the old school way of combating the above mentioned problems. HKS did a good job with developing the twin power, and it does work pretty well.
However, it is still limited by the output voltage of the oem coils! Fast forward to today. As we have started to see more and more VG's making north of whp, the need for a better, stronger ignition system has never been more important.
The answer was simple to find. All I had to do is look to other platforms that have been making higher HP than us for a lot longer than we have! While researching this topic it became very clear to me that the GM LS2 coil packs where the way to go! Simply put, our coils produce roughly 21k volts.
The LS2 coils can produce upwards of 42k volts!Testing or checking an ignition coil can tell you a lot about the health of your ignition system. Since the coil is the center of the system, it has to be working right or the car will not run right. Testing the coil requires an ohms meter.
If you do not have one, you can buy one at a home center or building center that carries electrical supplies. The procedure for testing the coil is the same for every ignition coil out there, but if your car has coil packs, it may require a different procedure. Remove the wires from the positive and negative terminals on the coil using a wrench to remove the nuts from the studs.
Unplug the coil wire that runs from the coil high tension terminal to the distributor and lay it aside. Place one test lead from the ohms meter on the negative post and one on the positive post of the coil.
The reading should be between. If it is outside that range, the coil is defective. Place a lead from the ohmmeter on either side terminal and one in the center high tension terminal.

Read the ohms off the meter. You are looking for to 10, ohms, and if the reading falls outside that range, it indicates a defective coil. Reattach the wires to the positive and negative side terminals followed by the retaining nuts for both sides.
Tighten the nuts with a wrench. Plug the coil wire back into the high tension terminal in the center of the coil.
Ignition Coil Harness (D585)
If the coil is outside the ranges here, do not reinstall it. Instead, replace the coil right away. This article was written by the It Still Works team, copy edited and fact checked through a multi-point auditing system, in efforts to ensure our readers only receive the best information.

Minimum voltage output no load, at recommended dwell : 40, volts Output energy: mJ Spark duration: 2. IGN-1A Race Coils are very solid, robust smart coils, however, excessive dwell or duty cycle may cause meltdown. As with any race coil, the manufacturer does not provide a warranty. Often, these use a filtering circuit which will not trigger when given a 0 to 12 volt square wave signal, such as the tach output signal from an ECU or ignition box. If you h The extra length makes these easy to bundle up into a single ignition control harness without needing splices near the coil.

I think want to do 8 coils vs 4 waste-spark coils, but I'm open to known good practices. Right now, I have a lot of scatter when checking timing, so I know there is room for improvement beyond the TFI issue. Thanks, this forum has really been a straight forward tech resource for me.
I have solved problems, as well as made gains in a quick way from the knowledge base here. I think this forum simply improves an already good product. Originally Posted by fitzmotor. May God's grace bless you in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I will just have to go Dual-Sync, or crank trigger, and modify the distributor. I just need to ditch the TFI, it's not reliable. So, I identified those available pins in my schematics.
I tried to build a map for it, I searched out all the parameters on this forumbut I could not figure out how to assign the pins. I called the tech line, they said that I only have the 4 outputs and it's not possible. How do I assign the pins to that connector? Yes, of course it does. That's what programming the Ignition Parameters is for.
I called the tech line because I did not want to ask such a simple question here.
